This low budget and multifunctional housing project is the perfect solution for low income families. That was the goal for Perala Manasa Reddy when she came up with the idea of converting the inner space of a gigantic concrete pipe into an affordable home.

The unit typically has a kitchen, bathroom and bedroom with access to water and electricity.  Although multiple interior design configurations are possible depending on the intended usage. Another advantage is that this type of home is fairly easy to transport in case of relocation or prefabricated shipping needs.

Another version of the Opod project was done by James Law Cybertecture, adapted for a hotel room configuration and still having basic facilities such as kitchen and bathroom.
