How can I browse on Design Records?

Several years of browsing the “world wide web” on design related material gave us the impression that although full of useful information it is also a great pain in the butt to filter out the content one is looking for. Whether it is an architectural school, an existing kitchen interior design project, a potential structural engineer job opportunity, a specific hardware supplier or a 3D software company profile, it is a time consuming process to find what you are looking for.

We believe that our experience in endless hours of research to find something that should take a few minutes is a common phenomenon among many web users. Although this networking issue is present in all kinds of subject matter our initiative to help out will be focused exclusively on the design community. Design is what we love. Design is what we know.

Here are the steps that demonstrate how to browse the Design Records database.

Search by Using the Quick Browse menu:

  1. Click on “Browse” tab in the main website menu
  2. Choose one of the tabs in the horizontal top menu, “By Location” “By Category” “By Industry” “By Keyword”
  3. “By Location” will search for projects from a specific country
  4. “By Category” will give you additional options to browse for “Individuals” “Institutions” or “Projects”
  5. By clicking on any of the sub categories listed under “Individuals” you will obtain a result page with user profiles.
  6. By clicking on any of the sub categories listed under “Institutions” you will obtain a result page with user profiles.
  7. By clicking on any of the sub categories listed under “Projects” you will obtain a result page with projects.

Search by Using the Advanced Browse menu:

  1. Click on “Browse” tab in the main website menu
  2. On the left side of the page, you will see the advanced browse menu
  3. From there you can select a combination of different filters to obtain a more detailed result.
  4. The “Keywords” field allows you to browse for: User Names, Project Titles, Project Descriptions, Predefined Project Keywords, User Profile Keywords, User Profile Description, User Project Keywords, Project Image descriptions.

NOTE: by default, the “Keywords” field will generate results for Projects with an associated keyword text. If the intent is to search for Profiles, the user should preselect those in Category/Individual or Institution and then use the “Keywords” field.

The Main Search Bar

The main search bar has a similar functionality to the “Keyword” field on the browse page. The user has the option of choosing to search for “Profiles” or “Projects” prior to typing a keyword in the search bar.
