Swedish innovation "Better Shelter" wins Best Design of 2016

"Better Shelter" Design Team became the big winner in Beazley Designs of the Year when they took home the prize for design in the category of Architecture as well as the competition's grand prize. This year marks the ninth year that the prestigious design award prizes for the 12 months most original and exciting design from around the world in six different categories: Architecture, Digital, Fashion, Graphics, Product and Transport. 70 projects were nominated for the six categories in the Beazley Design of the Year, all of which can be found in an exhibition at the Design Museum in London until February 19, 2017. To be nominated is required that the project promotes or produces change, captures this year's spirit, enabling accessibility and has a developed and innovative design. One of the winners of the six categories is also appointed to the competition's big winner this year was the price to the Better Shelter. "We are above all pleased that this prize brings attention to our hard work, and as a result, the refugee situation as a whole. We accept this award with mixed emotions – while we are pleased that this kind of design is honoured, we are aware that it has been developed in response to the humanitarian needs that have arisen as the result of the refugee crisis,” says Johan Karlsson.
